[Closed] 2012 Boardman FS Team rear pivot bolt

Hello all. I have somehow lost the pivot bolt near the rear derailleur on my Boardman FS team. I took it to Halfords who have said no spares available without buying the full bearing kit which is £130! Anyone have any ideas on how to source this bolt? It seems ridiculous that a bike 2 years old has such limited spares.

Thanks for any advice
John

Try BETD
They just helped me out with some pivot bearings and do a full kit themselves.

Thanks - I'll give them a try. Seems ludicrous that HAlfords don't stock these.

yes the greyish silver one, one each side near the rear dropouts. It is a two sided bolt with alan heads of different sized each side with one screwing into the other - a little like the bolts on chainrings

I've just checked and i haven't any. I'd try a different halfords. as a brand boardman don't carry a big selection of spares, often new frames get broken for a odd spare, or a whole frame is warrentied of a simple item. Some of the better shops will keep the bits.

This is a common problem with Boardman FS bikes as they do not lock-tight the bolts, and the rear side near the derailleur seems to be the weak side. The bolt is in two pieces, one side I think is a 6mm countersunk standard screw, but the other is a specially designed part.

I have lost one previously and also had it come lose twice (even with blue locktight applied) so check it before every ride.

The good news is that even though the shops do not have the specialists, their helpline does and believe it or not the knowledge and help I have had from them previously has been brilliant (5 stars!). Call their customer service number. They sell a bolt pack which includes all the pivot bolts for £25. They will send it to your local store where you have to go and pay/pick it up.

I suggest putting the spare rear bolt in your backpack.

Many thanks Fuzzybrain I'll give the customer service team a call and let you know how I get on - you wouldn't happen to know the part number for this bolt set would you??

Hi All,

Did you get this sorted? I too need one of those pesky bolts!!

frauds quoted me 350 quid for a full kit and said you couldn't get the separate, although that's the crewe branch who are beyond useless, surprised boardman use Halfords as it must destroy their sales potential with people who just wont shop there. I got my frame on ebay as a new frame returned with parts missing. wouldn't buy a bike from Halfords again knowing how bad they are, shame as boardman are great bikes.
