ive got a 2008 fox 36 float RC2 which is leaking from the left hand stanchion, and also the valve at the top of the crown on the left..
basically i just want to know how urgently a service is needed and whether its doing any serious damage to the fork whilst im running it..
stanchions are scratch free and fork performs moderately well as it is, any advice/opinion would be appreciated!
thanks in advance, ryan
Get it serviced. It might be okay for a ride or two but why risk it, just send it off.
It can probably be cured by a Mojo service.
Service is usually cheaper than repair 😉
very true.. looks like it shall be having a service asap then!
If you're a competant mechanic, why not do it yourself? Its pretty easy and you prob just need to replace the wiper seals and clean up the air valve.
New seals are around £15 plus about the same for a bottle of the right oil. The valve is probably just requiring a clean. Get yourself a valve core removal tool from Halfords (£4??) take the the inner core out, clean it and it should be fine. Might need to replace the valve core, which you can get from any decent car tyre fitter.
There are step by step guides on the fox website which show you what needs to be done.
