Im going to guess this is ok, as the difference is really only 2mm per side.
But if anyone can confirm 'meh,no problem'. I'd be happy just to go ahead and get the tyres.
Surely it depends on the various tyre manufacturer's ideas of what 2.6" is and what rims are used, etc. ?
My Evol has space for 2.6" allegedly and a vigilante 2.5" on 30mm rims is essentially rubbing the chainstays.😏
Points taken, I'll probably stick with 2.4". Last thing I need is frame rubbing
Totally depends on the specific tyre/rim combination
I run a 29 x 2.6" Vittoria Agarro in a frame that officially only clears 2.4" -- that gives me 5mm clearance either side, I've had no rubbing, but that's not much mud clearance
What's your current tyre and what's the clearance like?
fwiw I tend to use allen keys to measure clearance to the nearest mm
WTB 2.6 will rub.
Maxxis 2.6 will have masses of room.
Just my experience 😁
Also, in addition, for consideration, another thing, as well as depending on the tyre, I think, personally, I could be wrong, often I am, but I don't think so in this case, to cut a long story short, it also depends on, the frame. Yes I believe the tyre and the frame should be deciding factors in the answer to this question.
It also depends on how much mud you ride in and how bendy the frame is and how hard you corner.

Mud has no place on a bicycle. It gets everywhere and leads to premature wear of pivots, seals and the back of jumpers.
Frame flex is the key for me. You can have enough clearance on the stand but when you start riding it rubs. Also the rub isn't obvious until its too late unless you regularly check.
