Been using X0 since about 2007 and have been chuffed with the performance - but this was back when Shimano (IMHO) weren't up to scratch.
So then SRAM still the best shifting or should I consider others?
Also to those running 1 x 9 do you use a short cage rear mech?
Cheers ๐
I use a short cage X9 rear mech. It looks very small but works well. As for shifters, SRAM are easier to set up with their 1:1 ratio but Shimano have a lighter, nicer feel to the lever. So takes your choices.
X9 shifter and short cage X9 mech. Both feel good but I find the short cage makes it harder to get the rear wheel off than the long cage that used to be on there.
If you go for a shimano, try an SLX shaddow, I say the SLX as it has a stronger spring in it, and the shaddow design means the mech itself doent hit the chainstay.. Not sure if they do a short, I run a medium on a triple, but the last bike was 1x9.
I use LX (might be SLX)shifter and XT rapid-rise med cage rear mech.
saint mech, much tougher
X9 shifters and medium-cage mech. Plenty tight and more versatile if I change my mind later.
