Thinking of mating an XO 10-speed grip-shift with an X9 type 2 rear mech for a lightweight reliable set-up when my 9-speed packs up...
Anyone else done this and care to share an opinion?

not sure if the grip shift is any lighter than a thumb shifter
X0 10 spd gripshift with X9 type 2 mech here.. awesome setup. the new gripshift is a real leap in technology from the old ones, super light shifts and always loved the ability to dump >3 gears at a time.
Using mine in a 2x10 setup with XT chainset and f/mech.
All works flawlessly (and silently, the type 2 mechs are shockingly effective, I forgot to put my chainstay wrap back on after washing the bike one day and haven't bothered putting it back on.. bike is silent)
