Finally after putting it off long enough ( for fear of turning into a bearded, knee mashing niche whore) I finally popped my ss cherry. JUst a local jaunt around some near by woods, and as much as I hate to admit it, i ****ing loved it.
Anyway before I get crucified for the above statement, before starting the ride I glanced a quick look at the map and found a new BW so though I'd give it a pop. So find the BW, bimbling along and time is 8:40pm and starting to get a but dusky, 15 min of light left..
Come to a crossroads of farm tracks and about ot shoot off when a young ish lady ( 22?) with a dog asks me if I know where X road or Y street is as she's a bit lost and needs to get back to her dads house on X road/ Y steet, and it'll be getting dark soon.
No, I know the general area/ direction I'm heading in but street names, two hopes. I offer to walk the rest of the B/Way as it'll lead out to a road, and has to be better than stuck in the middle of nowhere.
I suggest maybe a torch or even a mobile could have helped her a bit here.
I then asked which direction she came in from. Blank looks and a classic reply, 'I was just following the dog, but he's hopeless at directions'.
Walked with her down the B/W , and **** me, 10 mins later it comes out onto the street she was looking for. I suggested a map next time, but not to let the dog read it..

God men are hopless. Spent 40 minutes pretending I was lost so this fit biker could get to play my knight in shining armour and all he did was slag me off about maps (I was only 10 minutes from civilisation). I bet he posts on a real uptight forum...
