.... are you finding that the lower bottle rack boss is stoping you droping your front mech. as low as you'd like?
I don't think that it's going to be critical, but I'd like to drop my front mech. a few mms but the boss is in the way and I'm not sure of the wisdom of running the clamp over it.

Just built an 18" up this morning and had a choice of two mechs, a top swing or conventional style mech, both XT. Went with the top swing as the normal style would have been sat right over the lower bottle boss hole.
The top swing was fine though, got it sorted no problems.
