It should be SSS. Wahtever this type of gearbox is called is more efficient than a epicyclic as in alfine / rolf.

I think this may just be the answer.

You're shitting me! I built one of these about ten years ago in my shed, using parts from an old Henry hoover, some duck tape, a coat-hanger and broken blender....

Bah!
