Depends where you ride! There's various good value options to look at.

If you're not doing anything too mental, a very good hardtail or a short travel lightweight bouncer like a Giant Anthem X4 would be good.

If you want more travel, a Trek Fuel EX6, Norco Faze 2, Giant Trance X3 or Specialized FSR XC Pro would be good bikes. I'd go for the Trance myself- the gears are a step down from the others with an SLX rear mech, but the Fox fork is much better.

I'd probably pick up that Merida one-five-0 in the classifieds to be honest, then I'd change the fork to ether 66's, lyrics or some fox malarky, domains are a tad heavy

£75 over your budget but the Giant Anthem X3 is a hell of a bike

a Giant full suss from

who have some massive discounts, then just decide how much travel you want.

Not sure where you are based but I'm sure someone (sideways, 18, swinnos?) could do you a nice Cotic Soul build for that. Everyone needs a bit of Soul in their lives

Otherwise P7 or R8 would be ready to wear alternatives

Stretch to £1,600 and get a Specialized Pitch Pro

I'd probably take 20 quid out of that budget for a new keyboard, it looks like your current one has a broken Shift key.
