Shimano look like they make the M8100 XT crankset in multiple different q factors, I'm assuming to address the chainline for different rear hub standards. However online retails don't seem to be offering the different versions. What does STW think i need for a 135mm QR rear hub?

I thought the Q factor was not related to chainline. I think for 12 speed the shimano stuff works with a 52mm chainline for boost and non-boost.
That 52 chainline for everything but superboost is on odd one from shimano, Q factor and chainline are seperate things, Q factor only really comes into play with superboost imo, my heels very rarely catch my seat stays with boost.
Each of the different chain lines on xt and SLX cranks has a different q-factor. For 135 you’d need the one with the lowest value (50mm probably, but not looked at the non boost cranks).
I realise Q-factor and chainline are different measurements but I assume:
Q-factor = chainline + width from spider to outside of crank?
This seems sugguest it is an issue?
The specs, including the Q-factor — the width between the outside face of each pedal eyelet — of each version of the cranks is as follows:
52mm chainline, for 142 or 148mm rear end, 172mm Q-factor
55mm chainline, for 148mm rear-end with wider tyres, 178mm Q-factor
56.5mm chainline, for Super Boost 157mm rear-end, 181mm Q-factorA double chainset is available in one ratio (36-26) for both groupsets. It’s worth noting that this is the first ever generation of XT and SLX to totally do away with a triple chainring option. XTR is also only available as a 1x or 2x option. The specs for the double crank are:
51.8mm chainline for 148mm rear-end, 178mm Q-factor
If you are looking for a narrower Q-factor, XT or SLX isn’t for you — only XTR M9100 is available with a Q-factor narrower than 172mm, coming in at 162 or 168mm depending on the option you go for.
