I’ve been out today and it seems my stans Neo freehub is trashed. I’ve currently got 11spd xtr and a custom 11-45 cassette fitted.
I could do with a new cassette but I don’t like the ratios on the 11-46 shimano option.
Does a SRAM cassette work with 11spd xtr? So if I replace my trashed free hub with a sram version I could make the change over?
Bump to unhide?
Look at Garbaruk if you're into xtr/x01 money as 11speed SRAM is only 10-42 and also very pricey for the higher end stuff.
It should. Your shifter and mech shouldnt care what brand of cassette you use (as long as the mech's tooth capacity is sufficient). Obviously you've worked out you need the right freehub.
I've just fitted a shimano Neo freehub to my rear wheel and fitted an 11 speed Sunrace 42t cassette. It works smoothly with a SRAM shifter and mech. It took a while to realise I needed to also fit the included spacer onto the freehub. I had a Neo XD driver and a SRAM cassette before.
E thirteen 9-46 works fine with 11 spd xtr, I find using same brand of chain and cassette gets the best shifting
Shimano mech and sram cassette plays well at 11s and is my preferred setup.
The gx cassette (xg1150) is the one to go for. Pretty light, not stupid stupid money and all steel so lasts for aaaages.

and needs an xd freehub (I believe), so think before you buy a freehub
Which is what the op was asking, no?
Used 11sp XTR for 9 years on four or five different bikes, always with SRAM cassette and chain, worked perfectly.
10-42 GX cassette is lighter than Shimano 11-42 with more range than 11-46 and will outlast them too.
Yup. Go 10-42 GX casette, and you can then go down a size on your chainring too.
I have XTR mech and shifter with 11 speed 10-42 GX casette and it is superb (sram chain!).
