Has anyone a properly small water bottle?

Mrs_oab has XS frame and a 500ml (small) camelback podium. It won't fit in.

Eldest_oab has a 450ml 'fly' cheapy bottle, it rubs the frame/difficult to get in.

I can find a Giant  branded bottle, but any other suggestions?

Will be combined with Zefal side loader cage.

Surely just mount it elsewhere, or carry water in a pack/bumbag?

Could you use an adapter to lower the bottle mounts?

She has a small pack, just getting fed up of the faff of stopping to drink rather than a swig on the go as she can do with road bike.

A small bottle solves the problem - we have the side loader cage already.

edit: that elite bottle is perfect...

Feed bag on the bars. Put a bottle in it. Even easier than using a standard bottle cage

And why not a bladder in the pack instead of stopping?

It just seems you're limiting how much water can be carried. I'm the world's worst at hydrating properly but even I would find 350ml a bit meagre.

Kids 250ml from decathlon or similar? My daughter is riding an Xs giant and the bottle fits in no problem

The elite bottle is great. Is just a mini version of the bigger ones. Comes with a suitable cage. Fit fine on my daughter's 20" bike.

450ml fidlock?

I opened the thread to say this. Neater, smaller, not kiddie sized bottles

That elite bottle is a smaller diameter to normal bidons.
So, it wont fit your sideloader.

Hoy do a kids size that fits standard cage, only shorter so it goes in a small frame. Got ours from Amazon I think.

Have camelbacks fallen from favour or something ? Plenty of water where you need it and no chance of poo/muck or whatever being flung onto the spout

We've given up on them at the moment - trying to manage 5 of them from going manky, even when storing them in the freezer, was 'challenging' when teenagers leave them in bags to go manky...

Yes? It’s all about water bottles, frame straps and hidden tools. Haven’t used my Camelbak for years.

I've got a running bottle holder a bit like this:

Not ideal, but the lightest, least sweaty option for carrying a bottle other than a cage that I've found.

Bottles also get manky inside if you're not washing them out.

Bottles are much easier to clean and sort out compared to bladders (still a camel back fan but a bottle is easier).

YT do their dinky 500ml bottle & cage combo as well: https://www.yt-industries.com/products/parts/jeffsy/333/thirstmaster-3000-set/

I'm with the bottle brigade. Camelbaks are a ballache.
Watching this with interest as my wife has a small Liv Intrigue, and the bottle cage bosses appear to be nothing more than lip service. I've tried plenty of cages, but bottles are the issue.

Same here, for years I've been lugging around a 2/3rds full camelbak bladder, I now use a bottle, no bag at all and occasionally refill from any of about 5 taps on my local rides. Must have saved 2-3kg by losing the bag and the 'just in case' stuff that lives in the bottom of it 🙂

At what point does it become pointless bringing a bottle? 250ml? 350ml? Non-sweaty back and enough H2O for a couple of hours (and a snack):

Another vote for Fidlock. I originally bought one to fit on a frame with little space and no cage mounts. Liked it so much I have bought mounts for the bikes that do have cage mounts.
I agree on the Camelback issue. I have bought loads over the years but have gone back to bottle and tube/tools attached to bike. The only time I use a pack is on big days in winter when you might need a change of clothes and lots of food

I had similar problem with my kona

I ended up with a side loading specialized cage

https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Specialized-Zee-Cage-II-Side-Loading-Right_223860.htm?

And an Elite Corsa waterbottle was the shortest I could find

https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mobile/elite-corsa-water-bottle/rp-prod93498

Works great

Fly is shorter than the Corsa (also available from Prime and Nukeproof, even still has Elite on on the bottom of the bottle)

Ooooh I just remembered, is there space to offset a normal sized cage further down the downtube?

I think my old Stumpy has a little offset (and slightly angled) cage plate thingy, that moves the cage down an inch or so, making it possible to sideload a 750ml bottle. There might not be room, but worth a google...

Fidlock

VPace couldn't fit a bottle. We did though.
I'd call this an xxs 26 frame.

For me? couple of hours ride - no food or drink. 3-5 hours. One bottle and a snack. all day? Refill bottle when you go to the pub / cafe for lunch
