i went to clean my chain and i was about to stick on a kmc 9 speed chain as i usually alternate chains.
ehhhh it seems my new orange five is 2012 and is 10spd .
just goes to show if its any different/improvement to 9speed i did not notice on two rides aroun kirroughtree and innerleithen.

anyway can i use my stock of 9 speed chains on the 10spd drive train?

i did say it was a bit of a idiot question sorry

no, the 10sp chains are narrower. IMO i've only noticed 10sp since i've now got a 36t rear cassette.. easy single ring climb climbing.

Technically, you can. Have heard of a number of people that have done it and none of them died, though I've no first hand experience and I don't think it's recommended...

I ran a 9 speed chain on my gf's 10 speed zesty for a week with no problems. Try it.
