Is the spacing on Shimano 10 speed cassettes the same for road and mountain?
Wanna run a bigger cassette on the cross bike for a special day.
There was a lot of debate about this on the 3 peaks website last year (I assume its for the 3 peaks).I currently run a 38t up front and a sram 10speed 11-34 out back with no problems other than having to run a longer b tension screw.I know a few people who ran shimano 10speed cassettes at the 3 peaks last year with no problems also.
Shimano 10 speed road kit is NOT compatible with shimano 10 speed MTB kit.
If you want confirmation on issues like this I think you can mail Madison (Shimano distributer in UK)on their website and they will give you an answer next day...ish.

really?
using di2 shifters, with a di2 rear mech on a XT dynasys 11-36 cassette
had a 105 GS mech working with 10speed SLX cassette and Ultegra STIs working sweet as today. 50/34 with 12/34 cassette. The mechs are a different swing but the cassette spacing is the same.
