Having an internal debate...

Got a Giant XTC2 29er, immaculate condition and a Bionicon SuperShuttle also immaculate condition.

Thinking about taking the wheels/forks/bits off the Giant and fitting them all to a Salsa Spearfish frame. Then flogging the Giant XTC29er frame ... (£300-500?) then also flogging the Bionicon and raising £1200 for that.
Then using the Salsa Spearfish as my do-it-all machine..

Most of my riding is local XC and the usual trailcentres.

We are doing Morzine for PDS in a few weeks, but pretty much if we were to go again, i'd be hiring a bike as all the prepping, buying tyres i'll never run again, 45 sets of pads, etc etc is silly when hiring is only £40 a day.

Any thoughts ?

Sounds like a good plan to me.
Did something similar two years ago ( Sold XTC carbon hardtail and a 575 and built up a 100mm full susser)
Never loooked back, do it.

I would. A mid-travel (100/120mm or so) 29er would be ace IMO, and perfect for most of my riding...

Sounds like a good idea - dont think you'll get 3-500 for the giant frame -the last one i saw on ebay went for £250.

ouch....

That is a consideration. The Bionicon i was lucky with, i bought low and sold reasonably, so didn't lose a huge amount of money on it. The Giant however, there's 2 on Ebay at £999, so even marketing mine lower as far more used than them, i'd be getting £800 ... which is a £500 hit on what i paid for it. That's not really a hit i'm prepared to take for a bike i like. I can see the big black Giant staying a fair while longer based upon all this.
