Hi all,
I'm looking at getting a new full sus frame but everything is tapered and I got a new set of standard steerer lyriks less than 6 months ago. Is it going to look awful? Any one got any pictures of this being done? I guess it doesn't matter as I don't have much choice but still worried it will look pants.
Cheers,
John
Looks, no idea, there is a reducer/expander that slips over the top of the steerer.
Surely the fork steerer is in the headtube so what's to see?
Exactly..nothing to see here, move along.

I use a 1 1/8th steerer in a tapered headtube with a reducer headset no problems so far.
Ahh well that looks ok. Cheers monkeyninja!

Yep two ways of doing it, either a reducer headset so the crown race is just a bigger 'platform' to suit the lower tapered headset bearing, or get a Hope adaptor HS136 and fit the normal tapered crown race onto it.
The Hope adaptor adds about 2mm stack height.
Here's a pic of a straight steerer Reba in a tapered head. The Hope reducer is a breeze to fit. Admittedly a tapered fork crown matches and therefore looks better, but it's hardly life-changing.

Double post
I remember a few shops telling me awhile back that it looks terrible which got me worried, I know it's only looks but lets all be honest. It's an important factor to all of us when buying new stuff. Judging by that Cotic steerer combo it will look just fine. The Lyriks have a hefty crown which will help to cover things anyways.
Cheers for the pics.
