GT Bicycles company is founded on December 27, 1987 by three former team mates at the U.S. Cycling Federation, Gary Turner, Mike Fraysse and Gary Klein. In collaboration with aerospace giant Boeing, they developed a bicycle with full aero tube shaping that would be marketed under the name Tora Aero. The company made its debut in U.S. races in 1988 after being selected as the official bike supplier for USA Cycling Team (UCI).
