Selling my S2L which I don’t use much these days. I bought it in 2017, used but barely so. I think it’s the previous year’s model but I’m no expert. I used it on an occasional basis for a couple of years and then less so, and then since 2020 I’ve worked at home so it’s only been used for dropping the car off at the garage (and for the last couple of years not even that).
It’s in great condition. Not mint, but it’s had an easy life with only occasional use. There are a couple of very small bits of purely cosmetic rust, mostly the nuts for the brake pads which are replaceable anyway, and the odd minor scuff and scratch. Nothing of significance. Tyres and pads have lots of life in them and as far as I’m aware they’re original so that should give you an idea of how much use it’s had. Rims are good.
I have tweaked a couple of things because I’m 6’4” but these changes are completely reversible with an Allen key and a spanner. The bars are extended forwards with the extension device that you see in one of the pictures, and to accommodate this I fashioned an extension to the bracket that holds the stem in place once it’s folded down. This means that when folded it’s currently a little wider than a stock Brompton, but it’s almost as small and still fine for trains etc. The bar is also a wider version than the stock Brompton bar. Again, makes the fold slight larger but not enough to cause an issue for pretty much any use case. These changes make the bike more comfortable and give vastly improved handling over the stock kit, and as I say, they’re totally reversible in a matter of minutes.
The only other modifications are the rear suspension spring, which is the firm version (I still have the soft one if you want it) and the Portland Design Works leather grips. The seat post is the telescopic one which you need if you’re tall, but of course it accommodates shorter people too.
Looking at prices in the wild, I have priced this to sell so no offers please. It’s a good example with some well-chosen upgrades and I think the price is a decent deal.
I can deliver to you within a fair radius of the A3, or I can bring it to London, or we may be able to arrange an alternative meeting location. I don’t want to post, but if you’re desperate then let me know and I’ll see what I can do.
