Specialized press release:
All New Status 2
Our bikes are typically developed with a tangible metric in mind – faster, smoother, stiffer, etc. STATUS 2 is a different animal. Although it gets the same level of engineering and design love as our Stumpjumper or Epic, the difference is its intention. STATUS 2 was designed to be dead simple and ready to deliver, regardless of terrain.
Our Specialized Ride Dynamics team developed the kinematics and dialled in the geo to deliver a snappy, poppy bike that’s just at home on technical singletrack as it is gapping a set of stairs. Extra focus was placed on premium suspension and brakes, with the entire package centred around durability.
STATUS 2 finds the boundaries of mountain bikes and pushes past them. Is it a trail bike? Yes. Park bike? Yep. Cruise to the convenience store and stop for a sketchy session on a concrete wall ride? Oh yeah. STATUS 2 is a bike meant to be ridden, however or wherever you ride.
IT’S A TRAIL BIKE.
FULL STOP. FULL SEND.
Forget the STATUS Quo!

HANDLING
From Park to Street to Dirt
The STATUS 2 bike was built to be an extension of the rider—both body and mind. Whether riding trail, at the bike park, in the streets, or just cutting turns with your friends on a local hill, the STATUS 2 lets you ride your way. With updated, aggressive trail geometry and Impressively short but scaling chainstays, STATUS 2 is just flat-out fun on all terrain. There’s plenty of composure when you need it and the freedom to do your thing when you want it. When the fun is over, and it’s time to climb back up, a steeper seat tube angle keeps you in a centered position, making the pedal up pleasant and won’t limit your lap count.
PICK YOUR PLAYER
Capability
Under- and over-bikers will love the newest models, available in 140mm, 170mm, and a 170mm DH option. Pick your bike by travel or by what build suits your riding style. Whatever kind of ride you’re looking for, STATUS 2 delivers.
BUILT BY RIDERS
Each build starts with a super strong M5 alloy chassis and tough alloy wheels. Stout suspension, powerful brakes, and popular drivetrain options round out these builds to catch big hits, pedal smooth, and provide a ton of stoppage. It’s not for the gram counter—it’s for those riders who push the boundaries of progression and come back for more.
MIXED WHEEL
Just like the previous STATUS, we’re sticking with what works here and delivering more of that dedicated mixed-wheel goodness. The stable 29” front wheel writes the check that the nimble 27.5” rear wheel cashes.
RIDE DYNAMICS TUNED
Before showing up at your doorstep or local bike shop, each STATUS 2 gets a special shock tune from our Specialized Ride Dynamics team—a group that eats, sleeps, and breathes mountain bike suspension. The characteristics of the shock are designed to complement the kinematics of the new STATUS 2 perfectly.
PERSONALISATION
Let’s Get Personal
Each model of STATUS 2 bikes features neatly packaged flip chips (located on the Horst pivot link, close to the rear axle) that allow the rider to finely tune the frame’s geometry to their desired ride or terrain. Bikes ship in the high position but can be ‘flipped’ to lower and slacker—8 mm lower bottom bracket and half a degree slacker head tube angle.
New Smaller Sizing
The S0-sized STATUS 2 is a first for Specialized—a true core bike for riders under 5’. This comes with a 27.5”/26” mixed wheel platform offering the exact same ride experience for smaller riders as the other STATUS 2 models. The Specialized Ride Dynamics team custom-tuned the kinematics and suspension specific for smaller riders. With lower spring pressures, the bike employs a more progressive leverage rate to give the rider more support in the stroke, avoid harsh bottom outs, and still leave room to tune shock volumes for specific rider preferences. The progressive leverage rate of STATUS 2 ZERO helps overcome the inherent friction in the beginning travel, typically experienced in a lower pressure shock. Ultra-low standover, shorter cranks, narrower handlebars, and an air shock instead of a coil (on the 170 model) round out the details.
