Back in issue 153 in February, Hannah proposed an alternative approach to measuring rides. As part of that, we gave you a set of ride ‘achievements’ to collect in the month ahead. Here’s your next seasonally appropriate set of ride goals. Enjoy! https://singletrackworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/issue-153-last-word-weights-and-measures/

I came to Singletrack having decided there must be more to life than meetings. I like all bikes, but especially unusual ones. More than bikes, I like what bikes do. I think that they link people and places; that cycling creates a connection between us and our environment; bikes create communities; deliver freedom; bring joy; and improve fitness. They're environmentally friendly and create friendly environments. I try to write about all these things in the hope that others might discover the joy of bikes too.

Hannah has obviously only encountered the canal geese near Hebden Bridge and Todmorden.

Sale and Manchester geese are polite except when they are looking after goslings.

    Would an angry swan do?

I have been attacked several times by swans on the Bridgewater canal.

Can you add ‘first tick of the year’ to the list? That was my little present from yesterday’s ride…..
