Ryan Pinkerton is out at the Sea Otter Classic with his eye on the Downhill race. We had a little look at his bike and asked him how it was going in practice.

Just the downhill this weekend?
Just downhill, no slalom for me.
How’s it going? How’s the course?

Really good, tracks, it’s fun and easy, just kind of straightforward, which is nice.

And the body holding up well then?
Yeah, everything’s all good, getting ready for the season.

What’s your setup that you’ve got here?
So my bike for the Sea Otter Downhill is the Raze Carbon. Normally it’s full 29 but for this race we have it in the mullet. And yeah this thing shreds! Tyre pressure I run 26 PSI in the front and I think 30 PSI in the rear. Fork pressures I don’t know exactly because we changed it a little bit, and I haven’t really done much setting up on this bike, so I don’t know those exactly, but otherwise I’ll say anything, not too worried about sharing it!

Have you got inserts in the tyres?
No inserts. It’s rocky at all. Just jumpy and flowy.

Okay, and have you got any little secret items hiding around your bike here, like prototypes or anything like that you’re working on testing?
On the bike right now, I do not. On my downhill bike I do when I ride. But on this bike I do not.

What are you looking forward to in the season ahead?
I’m just really looking forward to finding where I am in the elites. Obviously I got times last year that were top 10, but it’s always different moving up. The speed increases. But I’m just excited to see where I am and get after it.

I think we’re all excited to watch you!
Oh, thank you so much!

If all three Mondraker Factory Racing Riders can stay on the bikes and clear of injury, the trio of Dakotah Norton, Ronan Dunne and Ryan Pinkerton is surely going to make for some excellent entertaining race runs. How many podiums will they get between them? Definitely three to watch this year.
