RockShox press release:

New BoXXer

CONFIDENCE AND CONTROL. NO COMPROMISES.

Built on its high-performance legacy, the latest BoXXer was redesigned top to bottom to win races—or simply chase your buddies down the mountain. We could have made the stiffest fork possible, but we didn’t. We set out to deliver the best possible balance between stiffness, compliance, and comfort for maximum control. Two years of extensive development focusing on the critical blend of bending and torsional stiffness ratios resulted in the all-new 38mm BoXXer chassis.

After countless bike park laps, race runs, and lab test cycles, we found the perfect balance between ride quality, steering precision, and stiffness. It isn’t all about the numbers. It’s about giving you the control and feel you need to choose any line you like.

BoXXer’s 38mm stanchions are just the beginning. These upper tubes harmonize with the lowers to deliver ideal ride characteristics. Through extensive riding and testing, we tuned the stanchion wall thickness and lower leg architecture for stiffness that accepts steering input without beating up your hands. This way, you’re the one steering the fork, not the other way around.

New DebonAir+ – BUILT TO HANDLE THE PRESSURE

BoXXer’s new DebonAir+ twin tube design is unlike any air spring we’ve made before—and it rides that way. The action is so coil-like, it’s uncanny. Off the top, BoXXer is impossibly responsive and supple, but it wants to eat when the big square-edged hits start coming. Best of all, BoXXer’s air spring is infinitely tunable with both air pressure and Bottomless Tokens. Beat that, coil spring.

The new BoXXer rides on the twin tube air spring, a separate air chamber that nests inside of the 38mm uppers. Designing the air spring to work within the ID of the 38mm upper tubes initially caused the spring curve to become too progressive for even the heartiest of DH racers. So, we added the twin tube and boosted the air spring shaft diameter from the traditional 10mm to a hollow 14mm shaft, creating extra negative volume for the air spring.

By adding the twin tube sleeve, we can precisely control the different spring volumes: positive, negative, and casting (think trapped air in the lower leg). This optimizes the positive air chamber volume for that hole-swallowing linear spring curve, our most linear spring curve yet. You can use every single millimeter of travel (if you need it).

At the top of the travel, we boosted the negative air chamber volume to better absorb small bumps. At the bottom of the stroke, a new jounce bottom-out bumper gives you soft, clank-free landings off the biggest drops. No matter if you’re cornering, careening through rocks, or on a choppy straightaway, BoXXer finds traction where you never thought to look.

SMOOTH IS FAST

BoXXer’s bushings get thirsty, so we found a way to keep them constantly lubricated as you pound through the roughest runs. Each upper tube has oil flow ports located near its bottom. As you crank out hot laps, these openings circulate more lube through the bushings. This fork gives friction the slip.

These oil flow ports have an added benefit when the fork is going through its travel on a wicked G-out. This new design evenly distributes air volume above the lower bushing, resulting in a consistent spring rate you can trust on the gnarliest drop-ins.

New BoXXer Ultimate

Redesigned by the world’s fastest racers, for the world’s fastest racers, you want BoXXer in your corner. The all-new 38mm chassis is equipped with the DebonAir+ twin tube air spring that will have you thinking it’s a coil. Paired with a Charger 3 RC2 damper, BoXXer Ultimate takes you straight to the top step of the podium. And with our new crown adjustment lines, setup is a breeze—no rulers required.

Intense Cycle press release:

ALL-NEW INTENSE TAZER ALLOY eBIKE

Introducing the all-new INTENSE Tazer Alloy eBike. We’ve taken our carbon Tazer eBike and its classic JS Tuned design, tweaked the seattube angle a little, and… you could say… gone back to our roots. Custom hydroformed 6061 T6 aluminum means that the new Tazer Alloy has durability built-in as standard, and with the look and feel of some of our original INTENSE bikes.

The INTENSE Tazer Alloy is our first full production aluminum/alloy bike for well over six years. With 155mm of rear travel, 160mm on the front, Shimano’s awesome STEPS motor system and a 279/mullet wheel set-up, you get great handling, amazing grip and trail ride excellence. The Tazer is all about getting out there and enjoying the mountain bike experience, helping you climb faster, ride further and do more of the ‘good stuff’.

The Tazer Alloy PRO model comes with a Shimano EP800 motor, a 630Wh integrated downtube battery, and Fox suspension front and rear. The EXPERT build offers the same Tazer Alloy frame but this time with a Shimano EP600 motor system, a 504Wh battery, and DVO suspension. The Tazer Alloy is available in four sizes (S, M, L and XL), with a reach ranging from 417mm to 497mm, a 64.8º headangle, a 75.2º seatangle (effective) and is UDH compatible.

“It’s been fun working on an aluminum project again after many years of focusing solely on carbon fiber, and I really like how the Tazer Alloy has turned out. We spec’d it with the latest and greatest Shimano STEPS, which has been a proven platform for us, and combined it with the tried-and-true kinematics and geo of our carbon Tazer. It also got a smart industrial design, sleeker look and extended range. It was fun to create and it’s even more fun to ride.” Jeff Steber, Founder and CEO.

The Tazer Alloy PRO ($7499/€5999/£5499) will be available in early August (EU/UK), and the Tazer Alloy EXPERT ($6499/€4999/£4499) will be available in early September (EU/UK).

Mason Cycles press release:

Mason Bokeh 3.0

We are thrilled to introduce the latest evolution of our iconic Bokeh series: the Bokeh 3.0. Building upon the success of its predecessor, this new version incorporates intelligent and informed changes that enhance the riding experience while remaining true to our philosophy of #RideDrivenDesign.

The Bokeh has gained recognition as a multi-award-winning, Italian-crafted, custom tubed, premium Dedacciai aluminum-framed ‘AdventureSport’ machine, designed for fast ‘Continent Crushing’ rides. Many of our riders choose to equip their Bokeh with two sets of wheels, allowing them to easily adapt the bike to different terrains and adventures from gravel to road.

Drawing from our extensive experience and the invaluable feedback of thousands of dedicated customers and supported riders, we have implemented important improvements to the Bokeh such as:

Improved Dedacciai Aluminium tubing for better clearance, accessory and carrier mounting, durability, and compatibility with the MASON RangeFinder•AS fork.

Updated accommodation for 650b x 55 [2.1”] or 700c x 45 wheel/tyre sizes with ample side-knob and mud clearance.

Increased fork clearance without the need for chain stay yokes or heavy “drop-stays,” allowing for modern, large-volume tires on wider rims.

Retention of the MASON MultiPort for adaptable cable and hose routing, optimizing fluid carrying capacity and bag space within the frame.

Shift cables and brake hoses routed internally through the Ø56mm ‘ThruBB’ shell, keeping them away from the tire and rear accessories, simplifying maintenance and cleaning.

Additional top tube mounts with triple bolt and double bolt options for convenient storage of frequently needed items, ride fuel, and essentials.

Dedicated top-tube dynamo routing with reinforced ports for internal cable routing between the front and rear lights.

Improved eyelet fabrication with compression fitting and 3M bonding for increased carrying capacity, durability, and protection against dirt, salt, and moisture ingress.

Optimized seat-tube sizes, particularly for the largest frames, to enhance core stability, power transfer, and durability.

Enhanced MASON design dropouts with smooth blending into the frame tubes, reducing stress-raisers and improving durability, stiffness, and power transfer. Increased heel clearance, precision flat-mount caliper mount, deep rack-mount eyelets, and easily replaceable hanger.

Uprated pre-paint corrosion resistance to enhance overall frame durability and longevity.

New Fork with triple-bolt accessory mounts [each eyelet static tested to 30kg vertical loading], dedicated lo-rider/front-carrier mounts.

While the Bokeh tubing and geometry have evolved over the years, we have retained their essence in this latest, most advanced Bokeh version. The fast, light, agile, and engaging ride quality that has made the Bokeh legendary remains intact, alongside its durability, dependability, and long-distance comfort.

At MASON, our Ride Driven Design pillar prevents us from making design changes solely to follow trends or improve aesthetics. We don’t believe in “model years” or updates driven by marketing reasons. Every change we make must enhance the overall riding experience, ensure reliability even in remote locations, and avoid making maintenance and trailside repairs unnecessarily frustrating or burdensome. Our ultimate goal is for you to forget about your bike, fully immerse yourself in the surrounding experience, and arrive safely at your next destination, filled with enthusiasm for the next day’s adventure.

We take great pride in our #RideDrivenDesign philosophy and close connection with the riding community. The world-class riders that we are honored to support inform the updates and changes we implement to our models, combined with our own riding and design experience, as well as the extensive expertise of our tube makers and frame-building partners in Italy.

This unique blend of influence and experience is what sets MASON apart, making them truly special and incredibly difficult to replicate. Moreover, when you purchase a MASON, you become part of the MASON family, enhancing the wonderful world you enter into with our bikes.

Trek Bikes press release:

Trek Fuel EXe gets metal with new alloy options

Trek brings light assist to more riders with new alloy Fuel EXe models

Last summer Trek redefined the e-MTB experience with the launch of Fuel EXe, and today they broaden the horizons of its quiet ride and natural feeling support with a new aluminum chassis. The new alloy Fuel EXe provides riders with the same category-redefining tech as its carbon counterpart, but in a package that hits a lower price point to appeal to more riders around the world.

Every Fuel EXe is backed by the award-winning support of TQ’s HPR50 drive system with its unique harmonic pin ring transmission. This compact motor is tonally tuned to blend in with nature, providing riders with a one-of-a-kind trail experience that offers just enough support to flatten climbs without the whine of belts and gears. This tech made waves through the bike world when it first hit the trail, earning Pinkbike’s Innovation of the Year award, a Design and Innovation 2023 award, and Popular Science 100 Greatest Innovations of 2022.

With 50Nm of torque, Fuel EXe has just the right amount of force for cranking up steep climbs. It finds the sweet spot between too much and too little for a ride that feels natural and smooth, yet supportive. The drive system can be tweaked in the Trek Central app, should riders want to custom tune their support.

But the motor isn’t all that can be customized on Fuel EXe Alloy. The new alloy models have the option of adding adjustable-angle headset cups to tweak the headtube angle in addition to the same Mino Link feature found on carbon models. If that isn’t enough, Fuel EXe Alloy even has room to run extra-long dropper posts and coil shocks.

Fuel EXe alloy is ready to rip with a 360Wh battery that provides support for 2-5 hours, but ride time can be extended with a compact 160Wh Range Extender that fits neatly in the bike’s bottle cage. With this added support, riders will be pleased to know they can ride for up to 7 hours between charges.

Privateer Bikes press release:

Introducing the Privateer DJ101

The fun doesn’t end with the trail

The development of the Privateer DJ101 began with a simple realisation that the fun doesn’t end when the trial does. Instead, we found ourselves drawn to the pump tracks and dirt jumps or sneaking off to the local skatepark during our lunch breaks to extend play.

Looking around the office, the passion for riding dirt jump bikes was palpable. Inspired by this collective enthusiasm, we created a bike that encapsulated what we cherished most about hitting the local riding spots with our mates.

Our aim for the Privateer DJ101 was to offer the same principles as our full-suspension bikes; a sorted frameset, confidence-inspiring geometry, and a no-nonsense build kit, all in a package ready to rip out of the box.

Key Rider Benefits:

  • Confidence inspiring geometry.
  • Lightweight hydroformed 6061-T6 alloy frame.
  • Horizontal dropouts with the option to run gears.
  • Gyro tab mounts.
  • Easy to maintain and rattle free hose routing.
  • No nonsense build kit. Ready to rip out of the box.
  • Frame only or complete bike options.

Dialled Frame

The Privateer DJ101 is a feature-packed dirt jumper from the same people who brought you the awarding winning Privateer 161 enduro bike and 141 trail bike. It all starts with a custom hydroformed 6061-T6 aluminium frameset that gives the rider the best balance of high strength and durability while remaining low in weight and offering an extremely agile geometry.

With short chain stays and horizontal dropouts that offer 10mm of adjustment, the DJ101 is perfect for riders of all styles and abilities. Slam the rear wheel for flips and spins, or increase the length for improved high-speed stability on those big dirt jumps. Speaking of dropouts, we’ve made sure that the DJ101s are nice and chunky for those inevitable overshoots and cases, and with the included chain tensioners and integrated mech hanger, you have the choice to run the DJ101 as a single speed or with gears.

A 410mm reach provides stability on high-speed flow trails while giving plenty of room to still be playful when throwing whips and tricks, and the 69-degree head angle provides the perfect balance of quick steering response and confidence at speed.

Riders who have bar spins and tail whips in their repertoire will appreciate the DJ101s gyro tab mounts for infinite bar spins, while the secure external cable routing makes maintenance straightforward and the ride rattle-free.

For riders who choose to build their DJ101 from the frame up, we’ve kept things simple with a standard tapered head tube with a common headset for ease of compatibility with modern MTB forks while a threaded BB gives you the option to run MTB or BMX cranks.

And of course, we’re rolling on 26in wheels that are custom-built to handle the abuse this little ripper is capable of!

No Nonsense Build Kit

Like all Privateers, we’ve kitted the bike out with a well-considered build kit.

Up front we have fitted the Manitou Circus Expert fork with 100mm of suspension travel and alloy stanchions to reduce weight. The Circus’ air spring and ABS damper are easy to tune so you can achieve your perfect setup.

Keeping you running fast and smooth is a pair of Vee Tire Co. XCV dirt jump tyres mounted to a durable custom Privateer 26in dirt jump wheelset with a 20mm thru axle up front for accurate steering. With such a fast-rolling wheelset, and a dialled geometry, you need quality brakes to keep you in control, and so we’ve fitted powerful Clarks M2 dual piston hydraulic brakes that offer amazing performance.

Through months of in-house rider testing and working with our trusted OE partners, we are able to spec out the DJ101 with quality parts, all custom-made for Privateer. Everything fitted to the DJ101 is ready to rip right out of the box. From the comfortable high-rise bars to the durable single-speed chainset, the DJ101 is built to keep on riding even when the trail ends.

  • Privateer DJ101 Specifications
  • Frame: 6061-T6 custom hydroformed tubeset
  • Headset: FSA ZS44/ZS56 sealed cartridge bearings
  • Fork: Manitou Circus Expert, 100mm

Kona Bikes press release:

Shiggy and Crew Redefine the Process X

We are stoked to announce that the long awaited and much anticipated carbon Process X is finally available. Two builds to satiate the masses, the Process X CR and CR DL, these bikes look almost too good to rally down a mountain. To celebrate the release, we sent out Kona Ambassadors, Scott Mackay, Brian Serneels and Matthew Tounge to shred this bike all over Vancouver’s North Shore.

There are few things in this world that are hard to beat – the Process X and hand-built trails would make our list a thousand times and we’d be willing to bet a carbon bike that Scott “Shiggy” Mackay feels the same. Somewhere deep in the forest of the Northshore, where no being of faint heart can find, Shiggy and crew whip up some breathtaking lines and if X marks the spot, they’re doing their best to make sure it really makes its mark.

I know they’ll never be full RRP but it’s like they’ve bumped the price in preperation for all the 40% discounts that seem to be permanently available.

I buy cars for that price not suspension forks.

A good week for engineering. Both Trek and Kona redefining stuff. Rockshox delivering the perfect balance.

Poor old Privateer, just encapsulating, and Intense making durability standard, but worst of all, Mason, merely evolving.
