Scott Sports already announced its World Cup XC team last week, which includes Olympic Gold Medallists, Jenny Rissveds and Nino Schurter. The Swiss mega-brand of the industry has now unveiled its World Cup Downhill team, though it seems there aren’t a whole load of changes going on here either. Brendan Fairclough is back on board as the team’s lead podium hunter, while funny man Claudio Caluori will be managing the team and returning to continue his brilliant course preview videos.
The bigger news is that Gstaad is gone as a team sponsor, while track building company Velosolutions is stepping up to be a headline sponsor alongside Scott Sports. Given that Velosolutions builds many of the biggest downhill tracks in the world (including the Champery World Cup course), maybe they’ll be able to give Brendog some inside information on the secret lines to take??
With our sights firmly set on the 2017 season ahead we are proud to announce the formation of the SCOTT-Velosolutions DH Team. With an already long term commitment to the SCOTT team and an unrivalled passion for DH racing, Velosolutions will increase its commitment to the World Cup Team in 2017, bringing with it a shared vision for the future of mountain biking and world cup racing. I’m stoked for 2017 and can’t wait to kick of the season.” Brendan Fairclough
