Hello fellow Singletrackians! And goodbye Olympics for another four years – how quickly did that fortnight go?!
Did you manage to catch the Olympic Cross Country events over the weekend? We did, and the racing was absolutely thrilling! Keep your eyes peeled for our event wrap-up hitting the news section shortly…
In between being glued to the box watching Olympic XC mountain bike racing, a few of us managed to brave the crappy weather and got out for some head-clearing rides after a busy week in the office. With deadline for the new issue impending, boxes have required ticking, which included further testing of waterproof shorts as part of an upcoming grouptest that you’ll be able to read very soon.
Hannah took her trusty Mango drop-bar machine on some awkwardly slippery descents not far from Singletrack Towers, and in the process she both found and pushed well past the limits of the slick tyres. Hannah’s currently testing three gravel bikes under a grand for Grit.cx, so this sort of unnecessary punishment is actually all part of the deal.
Meanwhile, Chipps and Ross ventured up north to Scotland for the TweedLove enduro event, which from all reports was full of wet, wild and wooly racing. But the sun came out for presentations, so that was nice. Closer to home, Wil went out exploring on the local trails, and inadvertently put his waterproof shorts to the ultimate test when the heavens opened up in a colossal downpour. For a guy who had no idea what waterproof shorts were meant for prior to arriving in the UK, he is now fully educated. Meanwhile, Rob was also testing out his waterproof shorts whilst playing a round of golf. Yes, golf. Don’t worry, Rob isn’t allowed back into the office until he feels he has learnt from his mistake.
We trust you enjoyed your weekend, though if you need a little help rewinding back, we’ve got a nice little video wrap-up from Fresh Goods Friday. If you’d like to see Fresh Goods Friday Live, make sure you tune in to our Facebook page on Friday afternoon, where you can witness the dangers involved with trying to puncture and seal a tubeless tyre during a live stream to the world…

Wow! That cassette was as big as Will’s head!
And I do have an enormous head!
Where the T-shirt from that Chipps is wearing?
