It’s clothes innit? Shorts, jerseys, eyewear, even helmets. If you put it on and check it out it in a mirror before you ride then it’s up for the vote.
This year’s finalists are…
- Bell Super 2R helmet
- Scott Trail Mountain Jacket
- Shimano M200 Shoes
Bell Super 2R Helmet
Helmets with removable chin guards have been around for quite some time but they have, in the main, been a cosmetic affair with arguable added protection for the rider. But the demand from the riding public for one helmet to rule them all has continued to grow until finally along came Bell with a proper solution. The Super 2R helmet looks like a full face helmet and provides certified full face protection right up until you unclip the chin guard and it turns into a good looking trail lid. Now they have demonstrated how to do it other companies have taken notice and there will soon to be a lot more of these style lids on the market. If your riding spans that boundary between trail and DH riding then you will get a lot of use out of this helmet.
Scott Trail Mountain Jacket
Sharon reviewed this jacket not long ago and reckons it could very well be her ultimate riding jacket. In her own words from her review here, “ if you are looking for a high-quality, all-purpose, top of the range technical jacket then this is a sound investment that lives up to its price tag and will maximise your comfort levels when the weather turns nasty.”
Shimano M200 Shoes
It’s a shoe designed for enduro riders but don;t let that put you off. It is, in essence a extremely tough, nay indestructable shoe that will give as much pedaling benefit to any rider and not just pro EWS athletes. With a super aggressive sole that is flexible enough to walk (push) in and even on-trend orange highlights, expect to see this shoe at a trail centre near you very soon.
