New Race Face Dropper Post: The Turbine

In the wake of Whistler’s Crankworx festival it looks like the bike industry is not yet finished with launching new stuff. Today Canadian component company Race Face have announced their entry into the growing crowd of dropper post manufacturers with this new Turbine Dropper seat post.

Constructed using a patented hybrid system the Turbine post couples mechanical and hydraulic locking technologies to give what Race Face claim is a solid feel when in use.  By coupling these two technologies together Race Face claim to have been able to support the rider’s body weight with a mechanical locking system for a solid pedaling platform which does not slip and also offers less potential to fail over time.  They have then, “…utilised a hydraulic system within the seat post to take care of dampening and rebound duties actuated once the lever is pressed for perfect control and thanks to lower air pressures and static seals the Turbine post offers unrivalled performance, control and reliability.  Thanks to this design Race Face have also been able to construct the Turbine post to perform in below freezing temperatures making it the perfect partner for any Fat Bike or cold weather riding.2015_Turbine-Dropper_Post_LeverThey go on to say…

“Finishing the Turbine post off in all black Race Face then topped it off with their proven zero offset Hunter 2-bolt head design and fitted it with an internal frame routing system with includes a Quick Connector for easy, tool-free disconnection and internal routing.  Out of the box the Turbine post comes with a universal thumb lever which actuates the post and can be run on either side of the handlebar but a shifter style hop-up lever is available as an upgrade.”
