Tyre Sealant Not Edible Shocker!

Tyre Sealant Not Edible Shocker!

In case you missed the fun and games that was our Periscope live broadcast of Fresh Goods Friday on er.. Friday.. Here’s an edited version of the part where Barney and Chipps decided to eat stuff that they really shouldn’t have, live on camera.

The background to this was laid down in the previous week’s #FGF when Barney reported that the ingredients of the Wickens and Soderstrom tyres sealant were so benign that it was actually edible. This, it transpires, is not actually the case. Unfortunately for Barney and Chipps the clarifying phone call from the manufacturer didn’t occur until 10 minutes AFTER this video was shot.

The video starts appropriately enough with both of your favourite Singletrack muppets trying out the new Pizza Margherita flavoured energy gel from Clif. They then move on to more mechanical fluids.

Both Barney and Chipps are currently both fine*, in case you were worried.

If you don’t yet follow us on Periscope (The live broadcasting app from Twitter) then you can do so simply by following us on Twitter or by downloading the Periscope App on your phone (iOS only at present).

The ropeyness of the video is down to the fact Periscope is a portrait only broadcasting app at the moment and so we had to crop the footage to make it watchable.

The moral is of course, don’t trust ‘Someoneontheinternet’ when they say something is edible…

While we are here, why not grab a 25% off sub to Singletrack over on our Facebook Page now. Offer ends on Tuesday.

Safety first kids! Don’t eat this

While his official title might be Managing Director, his actual job description is "whatever needs doing" – from wrangling finances and keeping the lights on to occasionally remembering to ride bikes for fun rather than just work. He's seen the sport evolve from rigid forks to whatever madness the industry dreams up next, and he's still not entirely sure what "gravel" is. When he's not buried in spreadsheets or chasing late invoices, he's probably thinking about his next ride.

  1. So as a followup, would the Pizza Gel work as tubeless sealant? In an emergency obviously. May need testing out of doors, nowhere near any painted walls.
