Day 1 Stage Highlights

MARIN STAGE 1

  • Descent: 200m
  • Distance: 2km

Where it all begins.
Starting with some classic trail centre singletrack, things quickly turn rocky, tight and techy. For the last quarter the stage get steep and natural as the trail plummets back to the valley floor.

Includes: Sections of Plora Craig, Razor Rock, The Classic

HAGLOFS STAGE 2

  • Descent: 330m
  • Distance: 1.75km

Back up the hill to the top of Plora Rig. The Iconic hillside has seen champions of many disciplines grace its rocky berms, drops, jumps and tight, tree lined tech. This route brings all best bits of trail together in a nonstop flow fest. Great spectating at the bottom.

Includes: Sections of IXS trail, Gold Run, Cresta.

NAPIER UNIVERSITY STAGE 3

  • Descent: 256m
  • Distance:1.4km

After heading through Innerleithen, stopping at a timing station and service stop, riders then head up to the top of Priesthope Hill, known locally as the “Golfy”. Stage Three will be the toughest technical stage on the course, diving down steep chutes following a steep gully and cleuch (aka a streambed to non locals!). High speed natural berms at the bottom. Awesome fun if you have the skills and the bottle.

Includes: Waterworld, The Bone(r)

WTB STAGE 4

  • Descent: 366m
  • Distance: 2km

The very best of off-the-map, local enduro trail. The biggest descent of the day begins near to the top of Priesthope Hill and flows down through dense forest for a hand numbing 2kms. Special spectator area at the bottom of the stage where the riders negotiate a narrow track through the trees and gnar – Hecklers Alley! Get there and get noisy!

Includes: Repeat Offender

Graphs are what gets his engine revving, at least they would if his car wasn’t electric, and data is what you’ll find him poring over in the office.
