Lake’s MX175 looks pricey, rings up for less
- On-trend fluoro? Check.
- Boa closure system? Check.
- Action Leather upper? Check.
- Price tag to match? Nope.
Sitting quite naturally among Lake’s high-end footwear at Interbike last week, the company’s North American were clearly quite proud of the MX175. With a scorching finish and Lake’s favoured Boa closures, the model looks every bit the part of a race shoe. What the company is most pleased with, however, is the price tag: £125/$160.
By using a fibreglass midsole and heavier (and more scuff-resistant) Action Leather than higher-end offerings, Lake was even able to find room in the budget for the premium (and lifetime warrantied) closure and a natural rubber outsole. Toe studs are provided for and the bright yellow surface looks as though it would wipe clean easily. With looks and features that punch above their weight, the MX175s certainly seem worth a look for those in the market.
