Eurobike 2014: Maxxis Rubber

by 4

Maxxis has some rubber on show at Eurobike. Nothing new as yet but the real expo hasn’t started yet – this is just what we’ve seen at the Demo Day. Maxxis release new orange rubber? Oh no, wait – that’s the light shining through their bright orange tent…

The latest tyre from Maxxis is the Shorty. Released earlier this year the fast-rolling downhill tyre is available in both 26 and 27.5in variants, both at 2.4in wide. The Shorty is comes with the existing 3c compound and the Max Terra Grip rubber.

The Minion DH front is available in 26, 27.5 and 29in widths, with volumes ranging from 2.3 to 2.5in.

Another tyre which is also fairly new, the Minion DHR II. If you’re in the market for a fast-rolling, grippy rear tyre for your 26, 27.5 or 29in-wheeled bike, then this could be the tyre for you.

So although there’s nothing new here yet, the eagle-eyed will have noticed a couple of Maxxis leaks over the last couple of months that hint at what they might have in store for us tomorrow. The first is the Griffin DH tyre – a fast-rolling tyre for intermediate conditions. We saw it first on the new Pivot Phoenix in June at Press Camp.

We also expect to see the new Maxxis Chronicle 29in+ tyre tomorrow, when the doors to the 17 halls of 2015 gear open.
