Eurobike 2014: DMR Release New Cranks, Saddles And Wheels

by 1

We headed over to DMR for a quick look at their latest offerings.
To start off with, DMR was showing its brand new AXE crank. DMR believes it has created the ultimate all mountain crank with the strength needed to take the biggest DH hits, whilst keeping the weight low. It weighs in at 890 grams (including arms, BB, ring and hardware). Price: £249.99 including BB, narrow wide ring and hardware. It’s also compatible with the SRAM-style direct mount ring.

The new crank has been in development for around a year and a half, and after extensive testing they think they have nailed it. With a 30mm axle and hollowform arms, the cranks stay nicely lightweight but, say DMR, with ‘unrivalled stiffness’. Available in 170 and 175mm crank arm length with a BB size of 73/68mm, and a 165mm crank arm length with an 83mm BB shell.

Next up, the new Stage1 saddle, which is a lightweight versatile seat suitable for all mountain and aggressive enduro use. One of the nicer features of the saddle is the RiderSaver system. This is a strap located under the saddle inbetween the rails for a tube, canister or tool storage. If you aren’t using the strap, and you don’t want it flapping around then you can easily remove and then re install it whenever you need to.

The new saddle is available in black/tango, black/lemlime and black/black and will set you back a reasonable £49.99.

Last but not least are the new wheels, named the ZONE. These lightweight, strong all mountain/enduro wheelsets are available in 26in or 27.5in. Weighing in at 1940g for the set (front 920g, rear 1020g), the 30mm external width rim is laced onto DMR’s existing hubs, which come with 15 and 20mm adaptors for the front and  142mm adaptors for the rear. There is an XD drive option available too.
