Improved ergonomics – and bling – for 1x riders

XTR inspired?

As good as Kind Shock’s dropper post remotes are, their around-the-bar motion and small-ish size aren’t quite as easy to use or find as a good old trigger shifter.  Thanks to the explosion of 1x drivetrains, riders now have little to do with their left thumbs- and KS decided to put the familiar motion to good use.

Looking much like an abbreviated XTR shifter, the KS Southpaw is an aftermarket remote for KS’ (and quite possibly other brands’) cable-actuated dropper posts.  The lever is intended to sit under the bar where a front trigger shifter normally lives.  The clamp and body can be moved independently, allowing for translation and rotation about two non-parallel axes- most everyone should be able to find a position that works for them.

From KS:

It’s a simple little thing, but then again the world was turned upside down when shifters went down under. With the advent of 1x drivetrains, we saw a vacancy downstairs just begging for a hot neighbor to move in. Introducing the SOUTHPAW underbar remote specifically deisgned for bikes with 1x drivetrains. Drivetrain companies have already said it all for us. “Keep your hands on the bars, better control, yada, yada…” Truthfully, the thing just looks bitchen. Sold as an accessory only, SOUTHPAW uses an innovative split clamp allowing for 4-axis of adjustment for perfect ergonomics and feel.

Kind Shock Hi-Tech Co., LTD. is high in the running for our imaginary ‘Best Company Name’ award and their products are distributed in the UK by Jungle Products.  The Southpaw sells for £35.
