The British Downhill Series is one of the best national downhill series in the world, due to its mix of incredible world cup level tracks and its award winning organization. Producing some of the world’s fastest riders; Peat, Atherton, Hill, Simmonds, and Hart, the elite packed racing field brings spectators from all round the country to watch them in action on home turf.
Having provided tech support for the past 3 years, Shimano are no strangers to the BDS and its massive elite following, Shimano’s support at every round has been a massive asset for the series, making sure no riders go home early with mechanicals.
“With some exciting new venues for 2014 and a world class start list, the BDS is going to be one to remember. Having provided tech support at all BDS rounds for the past three years we know first-hand the level of blood, sweat and tears put into every race by both the organizers and racers and we are proud to be a part of it.”
Mark Geshon, Shimano Brand Manager
A few new tracks this year and some of the regulars; Antur Stiniog is set to host round 1 at the end of March, before heading off to Scotland to face Ae Forest and the home of British downhill, Fort William. Llangollen, the steepest track the UK has to offer hosts round 4, with rumours the course will be using the almost vertical wooded track.
To finish off Bike Park Wales, as another new venue, will provide an epic ultimate round for the 2014 British Cycling Downhill Series.
“Having such a large global brand support will lift the series to even greater heights for the world’s fastest racers, the trackside spectators and the armchair fans at home. 2014 is really going to be a special year.”
Si Paton, BDS Race Director
