Juice Lubes Fork Juice

juicy juice-1On the face of it, Fork Juice is a simple thing – just a can of lubricant that you spray on your fork and shock stanchions to improve performance. That doesn’t get across the difference it can make to the feel of suspension components which are in that awkwardly long period somewhere between ‘ah, just nicely bedded in’ and ‘oh dear, time for a service’, when seals start to get a bit wooden and things aren’t running as smoothly as they should. I’ve got into the habit of using it to perk up lacklustre performance in shocks which are a little past their best but not quite ready for a service; the boost to fluidity of travel is significant.

The only thing you need to be wary of is getting overspray on your disc rotors (the consequences of which are predictably comical). Aim straight, though and you’ll be enjoying slick, stiction-free travel for ride after ride. If I was to look for a downside it would be just that the temptation is to use it after every single ride, which means the eight quid tin disappears rapidly. You really don’t need to use it that often, though – once every few rides and then as a top up after the really filthy ones/a proper washing session, is enough to get the benefit without feeling extravagant.

Overall: It won’t work miracles on worn-out suspension but this is an excellent way to get your worn-in forks and shocks feeling like new again without resorting to a service. If only they made it for knees.
