Another ‘Why don’t I wear baggies more often?’ contender. With an internal liner that can be removed, the Mission short ticked all the boxes. Made from a very lightweight material, the outer had an un-restrictive feel that saw me wearing them for both riding and leisure duties. The liner itself was nice for shorter rides, but the floating inner never felt like it was giving much support.
A highly breathable outer material kept everything cool during longer rides and despite the lack of any specific venting apertures, I never overheated. This lack of extra zips and do-dahs also keeps the weight at a minimum for the more ‘performance-focused’ individual… Understandably all of this weight skimping was going to be at the expense of any form of long term waterproofing in the material. It beaded well from the small amounts of water that they did see, however in a downpour you’re going to get wet.
With looks inspired by One Industries’ motocross line, the Mission short comes with an internal waist enclosure, two solid front buttons, and an excellent lower back section that doubles as both protection and a handy pocket for things. Add in some normal pockets with integrated lens/specs cleaner and the short packs a variety of nice touches in.
Overall: Shame about the liner, but excellent comfort, nice styling and smart touches.
