E-book rises from print magazine’s ashes
With last month’s end indefinite suspension of Privateer Magazine publication, Singletrack lost a worthy adversary. Known for their images, well-told stories, and high-quality presentation, Rouleur’s dirty sibling was a magazine that we couldn’t help but admire (and sneak a read of now and then).
The man behind many of Privateer’s words has just released a collection of articles written for the magazine. Behind Bars is comprised of fourteen of Mike Davis’ articles, all in one (electronic) spot. From Amazon:
A collection of 14 articles by mountain bike journalist Mike Davis, all originally published in influential MTB magazine Privateer between 2009 and 2013. Includes a history of titanium mountain bikes, a look at the unique devotion that Yeti owners have to their bikes, the experience of racing a twenty year old bike on 10 year old trails, how watching skilled riders taps into the oldest parts of the human brain and plenty more. The articles include interviews with numerous influential bike designers, builders and riders — Greg Herbold, John Tomac, Keith Bontrager, Mike Augspurger, Rob Vandermark, Jeff Jones and many more.
At only £3.99 for the Kindle edition, Behind Bars looks to be a great way to pass the time between Singletrack issues. Full disclosure: Purchase via this link, and Singletrack will receive a portion of sales, helping to keep your favourite magazine and website afloat.
