by 1

1. What’s your name?
Ross Grimmett.

2. What’s your job?
My official job title is Service Co-ordinator [at Felt importers Saddleback], but my role covers a lot of areas.

3. How long have you been racing bikes?
17 Years.

4. What’s the best bit(s) about The Shimano Singletrack Classic Weekender?
The atmosphere is great, of all the events I attend in a year I think I talk to the most people at the Weekender, and not about work stuff which is nice.

5. What’s the worst bit(s) about The Shimano Singletrack Classic Weekender?
I remember it being pretty windy one year and the camp site is a fair way from the car park… Sorry, clutching at straws for an answer!

6. What’s your favourite aspect of The Shimano Singletrack Classic Weekender?
Mutli-discipline “racing”, it’s the perfect format.

7. What sections of The Shimano Singletrack Classic Weekender were your strengths?
Not too bad on the DH, but strongest on the XC.

8. What sections of The Shimano Singletrack Classic Weekender were your weaknesses?
That b****y hill climb on the Trials section.

9. Any pet hates?
That b****y hill climb on the Trials section.

Ross on the Downhill course at last year's Weekender.

10. What are you never seen without?
Allen keys and my phone.

11. Website you visit the most?
50/50 Between BBC Weather and Strava at the moment.

12. What one thing would you rescue from your burning house?
Is Faye going to read this? Oh..she is…

13. Favourite place to race?
The French Alps.

14. Most impressive cycling injury?
Does hypothermia count?

15. What’s your desired super power?
Proper Superman-type flying.

16. What was the last bike race you did?
The Easter Classic road race at the Castle Combe circuit – yes it’s not a MTB race. I did just ride the www.HeavenOfTheSouth.co.uk 75km off-road event though.

17. What is the next bike race you’ll do?
It might just be the Classic Weekender – but lots of events to attend between now and then.

18. What are your expectations for this year’s Shimano Singletrack Classic Weekender?
Meeting old friends and making some new ones, with some riding of bikes mixed in for good measure.

Orange Switch 6er. Stif Squatcher. Schwalbe Magic Mary Purple Addix front. Maxxis DHR II 3C MaxxTerra rear. Coil fan. Ebikes are not evil. I have been a writer for nigh on 20 years, a photographer for 25 years and a mountain biker for 30 years. I have written countless magazine and website features and route guides for the UK mountain bike press, most notably for the esteemed and highly regarded Singletrackworld. Although I am a Lancastrian, I freely admit that West Yorkshire is my favourite place to ride. Rarely a week goes by without me riding and exploring the South Pennines.
