We like local bike shops, so news of a new one is a Good Thing. If you live in the Sheffield area you may have noticed a Bike Tree has grown on your doorstep – here’s the full news from them…
“Sheffield’s reputation as a bike friendly city is on the rise. The number of quality cycle shops has recently doubled, an ambitious scheme championed by local hero Steve Peat for trails at Parkwood Springs has been awarded funding and the surrounding Peak District National Park boasts some of the best singletrack in the country.
That reputation will only be enhanced by the opening of a new bike shop just outside the city in Dore. The Bike Tree is the brain-child of self confessed bike nut Scott who, having worked in the industry for a number of years, is determined to create a cycle shop with a difference. That difference is apparent as soon as you walk in. Engage any of the staff in conversation and you’re immediately struck by their infectious enthusiasm and commitment to giving something back to the cycling community. Already they’re running regular Bike Tree rides twice a week and will soon be offering skills sessions. Scott is also eager to sponsor up-and-coming local riders and has already taken two young dowhhill riders under his wing.
For those who need more in the way of technical help, bike health checks are offered throughout the year and the team are keen exponents of the Ride to Work scheme. On World Cup Downhill Sundays, they set up the big screen so that Sheffield riders can follow the exploits of Steve Peat and other superb British downhillers.
As for the shiny stock, there’s something for everyone from those wishing to buy their very first bike to the expert looking for a state-of-the-art machine. With a range that includes Cove, Yeti, Cube, Cannondale, Mondraker and Merida the only problem is likely to be deciding which of their eclectic range to buy. Thankfully, a growing fleet of demo bikes is available and with the Peak District so close by it won’t be difficult putting them to the test. This shop is helping to cement Sheffield’s reputation as a great place to ride a bike.”
We suggest you go and check it out..

EBC = over priced and poor stock and are also so eager to help that they don’t actually listen to what you want
Glad it’s not just me that thinks that EBC should be re-named Edinburough Bicycle Un-cooperative…….
