Bristol BikeFest

The Bikefest Team write…

2009 was a first for the Bikefests where the weather decided not to play ball. Some of the heaviest downpours turned the dusty and super fast course into a slightly more demanding affair giving the event an even more challenging angle. Luckily though the Bristol Bikefest course was ridden dry rather quickly with the end of the day experiencing Bikefest typical fast and furious laps. For 2010 the course will be made less weather dependant without taking the fun sections and the flow out of it.

Kona Bristol Bikefest powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport
5 – 6th June 2010 – Ashton Court, Bristol

In 2010 the Kona Bristol Bikefest powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport will return once more to the fantastic course in Ashton Court, Bristol. The almost 10km long loop which is loaded with some of the sweetest singletrack the south west has to offer will be the playing field of the 12 hour team/solo endurance race on Saturday the 5th June and will be back the day after (6th June) with the 6 hour team/solo event and the 3 hour ‘novice’ event. Following on from the successful introduction of the 3 hour event at the 2009 event we will carry on with the rather popular novice race.

Both days are aimed at the experienced rider as well as the newcomer. On Saturday we will have solo, pairs and teams of 4 categories. The Sunday race will have the same categories. All team sizes can be entered in the team open, team ‘old gits’ (average age of riders needs to be 40+ years) or single speed category (please note – no single speed category on Sunday). There are obviously mixed teams and pairs in the running as well. Besides that the 3 hour novice event will have teams of 2-4 and a solo category.

Besides the race action there will also be a great musical line-up, with live music on Saturday night and DJ running from early evening late into the night on Friday and Saturday. On top of that there will be an extended food village and a colourful event village with a broad selection of the latest bikes and kit.

Facilities and camping:

Last year’s introduced showers and overflow camp ground will return offering the riders more camping space as well as all the facilities you can expect from one of the biggest MTB events in the country. Some camping will be found next to the action at the usual location next to the start/finish & event village (make sure you enter soon to guarantee your slot) with some extra camping only a few hundred yards away. Showers and bike washing facilities will also be located only a couple hundred yards away from the main arena.

2nd Kona Bikefest event 2010

We have decided not to go back to Cheddar this year but rather than having only one event in 2010 we are currently putting the finishing touches on our 2nd Kona Bikefest event. The event will be based in the south west and will take place in the autumn. Watch this space for further updates in the next couple of weeks.

Website and online entry

All the details on the Bristol events including downloadable entry forms and the online entry can be found on the updated Bikefest website www.bike-fest.com. Further updates will go onto the site but you should find everything you need to know now. Check it out, download your entry form and hopefully see you at the Kona Bikefest powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport in 2010.

Don’t forget – The Bikefest Loyalty Gift 2010:

And finally as in the last three years we will be awarding all the keen riders out there with the Bikefest Loyalty gift worth more then £ 25. You are entitled to the gift if you enter the Kona Bristol Bikefest 2010 and the new autumn Kona Bikefest (details to be announced) 2010 of if you enter two races over the June 2010 Bikefest.
