THE DIRTY WEEKEND – New Off-Road Race Event

The Dirty Weekend, a series of off-road mountain biking and running races at Margam Park, South Wales, on 28th and 29th November 2009.

The event is open to men and women of all capabilities, and competitors can choose between a duathlon (5k run / 22k mountain bike / 3k run) and a 5k run on the Saturday, and a 50k mountain bike enduro and a 10k run on the Sunday.

Margam Park is the perfect venue, offering world-class mountain bike trails in stunning countryside. What’s more, it is only minutes from the M4 near Port Talbot, so is easy to access and has excellent parking and facilities.

The event has been set-up by Men’s Fitness magazine following on from the success of their off-road triathlon Rough Track. Men’s Fitness has partnered with Tri & Enter events who run the very successful Gower triathlon and will be running the event on the day. The course has been designed by X-Terra pro Ryan Evans and utilises the fantastic course at Margam.

Pete Muir, editorial director of Men’s Fitness, says, ‘We know our readers love to get outdoors and challenge themselves physically. The Dirty Weekend is the perfect event for people who are happiest when they’re muddy and sweaty. I expect it to be a great day out and I’m looking forward to joining the other competitors on the start line.’
