peatbeerSteve Peat: “I have had such bad luck at the World Championships but today I had an awesome run … Over the years it has become my nemesis, I don’t think it’s sunk in yet, I’m still pretty overwhelmed with it all … I’m the oldest guy out there and I’ve been trying for a long time with a lot of second places, but I felt strong coming into this race … It was pretty emotional putting the jersey on, on the podium knowing I could wear it as World Champion for the next year, I’ve been trying for a long time and it’s just an unreal feeling.”

I have been a writer for nigh on 20 years, a photographer for 25 years and a mountain biker for 30 years. I have written countless magazine and website features and route guides for the UK mountain bike press, most notably for the esteemed and highly regarded Singletrackworld. Although I am a Lancastrian, I freely admit that West Yorkshire is my favourite place to ride. Rarely a week goes by without me riding and exploring the South Pennines.
