Is that a US list ? You have to go the 13 before you get a film that isn't American (Lord of the Rings) and 34 for Leon (French).

You don't way if you are after recent ones of not, so forgive the (relative) oldies. No particular theme or order here, just the first ones that popped into my head. I have no idea what you like so you may hate them all 😆

Into The Wild – the most visually beautiful film I have seen
Leaving Las Vegas – harrowing and depressing, but still a must see
Bridge to Terabithia – do not dismiss this as a kid's movie
    District 9
    Before Sunrise

    Hot Rod:

Self-proclaimed stuntman Rod Kimble is preparing for the jump of his life – to clear fifteen buses to raise money for his abusive stepfather Frank's life-saving heart operation, because he can't bear the thought of him dying without getting one more chance to "smash his face in".

There are some odd entries – well it is open to the general public 😉 – but a good place to check if a film might be of interest. A few from the list I've liked recently:

Once Upon a Time in the West
    Pan's Labyrinth
Once Upon a Time in America
    Sin City
    Unforgiven
    Oldboy
    Letters from Iwo Jima
    Crash
    Little Miss Sunshine

just watched it last night and it was pretty good, if a bit violent & gritty.

A class performance from Mr Caine.

watched Near Dark, 1980's vampire flick and early direction by Kathryn 'hurt locker' Bigelow.

not bad, lots of 80#s synth backing etc etc

    Alien
    Aliens
    Alien 3

NOT Alien Resurrection ('cos it's tat)

Then move onto the more sublime films, with Pete's Dragon, Batteries Not Included, and Monsters Inc.

You could also try going for the complete set of "original films that Hollywood made remakes of" and compare them with the remakes. That would give you Solaris, The Ring and many others.

    The Island with Ewan McGregor..

not bad, though serious overtones and prompts from the much better Logan's Run
