    Hi all
I have just bought some used Shimano XT shifters off Ebay. All is well with them except on the right hand shifter I want the thumb lever to shift up the gears and finger lever down, I understand this is possible but how? No instructions were with the shifters. (reason I want it this way round is due to my other bike being set up like this)

This is down to the mech, not the shifter

    Rapid-rise rear mech?

Not sure I’ll have a look, I’m changing the set up of my Giant NRS which had combined shifters & lever. the rear mech just has Shimano deore XT on it so no idea if its rapid rise or not

the shifters are Shimano SL-M770 Deore XT Rapidfire Shifters: what rear mech is compatible with these shifters?

It’s not the shifters that are the issue. Some Shimano rear mechs came in two varieties – “normal” and “Rapid Rise”. To get what you want, you’ll need a Rapid Rise rear mech – or fit another set of the integrated type levers that you already had.
