Current Shimano xc50n shoes on their last legs, anybody used the new version? XC51n?

    I need, stiff-ish sole, non-mesh toe area,year round use.

Anything else to consider before I order the newer version of what I have?

I was only looking at these last night as I want some splash proof shoes.
Assuming the 50 is. There are quite a few places selling them and they are cheaper than the 51.

I have had both XC50n and XC51n and I find them great year round shoes for the UK. The XC51m’s are still going strong at the 18 month stage which is 150ish rides, 3400miles. I had slightly colder toes with the XC51n’s over the winter, but it could just be me getting old.

    Does n designate no mesh?

@zippykona – when I originally bought my XC50N’s I seem to remember it referred to ‘Nordic’ relating to a sealed underside where the cleats screw in and the non-mesh top. – but I may have completely misremembered so don’t quote me on it!
