Anyone else looking forward to the WRC kicking off?
Last of the 2L cars this season as well – newer smaller cars next season – and some new cars around for 2011 already.
    WHoooop!
(Shame it is on Dave and Freesat does not have dave on… 🙁 )

    Yessum!
Wish they’d followed the IRC formula with N/A 2 litre cars and some proper noise though.

nope, wrc died when it became a television show. years ago they ran proper events and the tv companies had to do their best to keep up, it’s now made for tv, running stages twice, friday to sunday dinnertime, no night stages, piss poor. imo 🙁

    I’m with Stu.

Use to love it. We would take 3 days off work, get up at 3 in the morning to watch the british rounds and even marshalled some of the rounds.

Started to lose interest when they got shut of the night stages and stopped caring altogether when it became the special stage rally of South Wales.

…. yes, forgot to mention that they used to cover hundreds of liason miles, rally gb (rac) was all over the country and what about the 1000 lakes in finland, they’d probably have to call it 25 lakes now.

Good points, I’ve followed this for a long time too and miss the events as they used to be.
Watching the Dakar earlier, todays single stage was longer than a WRC stage distance. Carlos looked a bit dischuffed at the end though!

it might suck in terms of mileage, but in terms of skills on show you’ll still struggle to better it! Now if only someone would consistently step up to challenge Loeb…

Mattt, 2010 saw the end of the 2.0ltrs cars. We’ll have to see how the new cars cope in ’11.
Renewed interest from manufacturers though, if you can bare to look at the Countryman WRC.
