    Since moving abroad and working at my (rather lovely, I must say) desk all day, I am starting to get concerned about being in solitude all day. Will I end up like the blokes at the end of Papillion after a few months?

    That said.. I do get loads of work down and I can listen to as much 90s electronica as loud as I want without the office getting all narky.

    I've been doing it for 18 months now, albeit with a wife and baby here for most of that time too.

    Having to be more strict with myself about going out and socialising as the business and family chores can take up all my time if I let them. Have got a bit stir crazy from time to time.

    Are you the guy who moved to Spain? How's that working out? Got out on the bike much?

    It's pretty hard going, especially if you are stuck in the house all day. The missus comes home at night and all she wants to do is crash, while you;re gagging to get away from the four walls.

    I did it for a couple of years, went a bit stir-crazy and ended up buggering off to Oz for a year out.

    Doing it again now, off and on, still finding it very hard.

    I've worked from home for 4 years now. You are the master of all you survey – here are my top tips.

    1. Divert land line to mobile so you can get out and about;
    2. Learn to turn your phone off;
    3. You get more done than in an office, so treat yourself to some daytime riding now and again;
    4. You are saving the commuting time, so treat yourself to some daytime riding now and again;
    5. Getting out and about helps stimulate thinking etc., so treat yourself to some daytime riding now and again;

    Did I mention using as an opportunity to ride your bike more?

    @chakaping yeah… that's me (note to self; update the thread). Not been biking much as I have had to do stuff like entertain the outlaws, register the car (and me actually) build a cool staircase and buy shed loads of expensive equipment. As well as get my head round things like:
    Why, when you rent an apartment in Spain, does it not come with showerscreen/glass/curtain/pole
    Why we have two entryphones, but no-one knows how to use them
    Who in their right mind put such a freaking tiny box kitchen in a beautiful loft apartment.
    EVERYTHING closes at lunchtime, including the shops where one would go to buy the necessaries for said lunch.
