I have an incredible amount to do today, but I find I am completely unable to even start something, and am instead reading and re-reading threads on STW, and looking at bike parts on ebay.

What’s with that? Does anyone else get ‘work paralysis’? 🙁

    Hands up.

All it means is that I will be working even later tonight 🙁

Pre-internet, people went to the bog and read the paper – or the pub all afternoon.

Comes in phases…..I’ve been very good lately. I’m treating myself to a doss today as I had a couple of mega days last week….I’m even leaving bang on 5….

    That’s how I roll.

I’m terrified to even click on that thread, due to the use of the ‘p’ word in the URL.

It’s fine. It’s just lots of nice pictures of sheds and cabins and suchlike 🙂

I swing from one extreme to the other, non stop working for a couple of months then total idleness inability to get motivated completely uninspired. I blame STW too that and age of empires II (addicted to death matches on hardest 🙂 )

    I’m working out my notice.

They might as well have a cardboard cutout in my seat.

I frequently get this – it is usually when I’ve just been told to drop the mega-urgent thing that I dropped something else for, in order to do something that is supposedly even more urgent.

You just get to a point where it is demotivating even starting something because you know it will mushroom into a bigger exercise – and then you’ll get told to drop it for the next ‘the world will end if you don’t do this now’ thing.

I hate my job most of the time.

I have just won three large contracts for the business, loads of long hours and effort since April. So having week off, spending days with wife once kids are at school and doing a bit of biking.

I find motivation is low when there is no proper incentive, the recent large contracts meant I got a success fee with them, and was suitably inspired to work. Got a new car for misses to pay for.

Yup, get that quite a bit. Bizarrely the more I need to get on with things (maybe don’t have clear plan) the more I procrastinate…

And now we have a thread about not being able to concentrate at work that I keep coming back to which isn’t helping me concentrate at work….

Procrastination is a luxury for those whose job doesn’t really matter if/when it gets finished.
Log off, man up and crack on 😛
