    I had wondered about that.

It had been creosoted. But not for very long time, cos it leaks like a sieve.

This would have been a much more interesting thread 😯

You really don’t want to be burning wood that’s been treated with anything. Tannelising, creosote, paint, varnish, wax, they will all send stuff up the flue that will stick to the inside and build up, possibly causing a chimney fire.

After our loft conversion we had loads of old rafters etc.
I was told they were ‘old’ so would be fine as unlikely to be treated, so I chopped them up into ‘brick’ sized pieces.
I put a block or two in the burner over the weekend – basically it ‘fazzled’ then ‘bled’ pink ooze a bit.
I took them out straight away and chucked them in the garden.

I’m going to stick with dead trees in their unprocessed form from now on!

I wouldn’t burn an old shed in a woodburner. Stick it on your local Freecycle group and see if anyone needs it for a bonfire on 5 November.

    Cheers chaps.

I’m new to this woodburner lark.

    Anyone want a shed?

“see if anyone needs it for a bonfire on 5 November.”

Yep thats much better idea ……….. If it burns on a bonfire you might as well burn it in the stove… How ever neither ideas very clever.
