Just putting together a hack build with some spares, the rear wheel even when the skewers are done up really tight has a small amount of play in it which feels like it is coming from the hub. Tried tightening the skewer more, which doesn't work – what do I need to do to fix?

It's a 18month old LX hub.

Tighten the cones slightly

You need some really thin spanners for this job. They are not expensive. Put decent grease in too.
