I noticed the new cassette that I recently put on my rear wheel (XT hub) has a bit of a wobble. When removing the cassette I noticed that the freehub seems to have some play in it. Before I take it all apart I was wonder if it is likely to be just a tighten up job or a new freehub?

If I continue to ride on it will the cassette wear excessively?

Does it actually have play, or does it just move a bit side to side when you spin the wheel?

Yes, actual play in the freehub.
